Sita, the wife of God Shree Ram was taken away from here by the king of Lanka named Ravana. This place is full of memories of Prabhu Shree Ram and Devi Sita while they were sent to 'Vanavas'. One can see the ancient temples like Kalaram Mandir and Pandav Caves. The river, Godavari, increases the beauty of Nasik city. Khumbhamela is another attraction of Nasik. Plenty of sadhus gather for this mela every 12 years. Muktidham is a place on Nasikroad railway station, approximately 80 km from Shirdi.
